Arts Partner: The York Theatre Company

Book and Lyrics by ALAN JAY LERNER
Music by FREDERICK LOEWE
Music Direction by DAVID HANCOCK TURNER
Directed and Adapted by MARC ACITO

The York revisits one of Lerner and Loewe’s lesser known gems with the short-lived 1945 The Day Before Spring A married woman attends a college reunion where she meets the man with whom she almost eloped ten years before. Romantically stirred by a novel he has written about her, she considers leaving her husband and reuniting with her former flame. With a score that was never recorded, moments of The Day Before Spring served as inspiration for such Lerner and Loewe classics as Gigi and My Fair Lady. This production will feature all of the songs from the original score after recently being discovered for a 2010 UK production.

This will mark the first hearing of the original score in New York since it closed on Broadway in 1946!
