Arts Partner: The Actors Fund
Join us for The Actors Fund Special Performance of SOMETHING ROTTEN
When your theatrical competitors include William Shakespeare, what can a couple of brothers do to join the ranks of Elizabethan power players? Write a musical, of course! Starring Christian Borle and Brian d’Arcy James. Synopsis: The time is the ’90s — the 1590s. Brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom are desperate to write a hit play but are stuck in the shadow of that Renaissance rockstar known as The Bard. When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theatre involves singing, dancing and acting at the same time, Nick and Nigel set out to write the world’s very first musical!
Actors Fund Special Performances have been thrilling audiences for more than 80 years with an electric energy unlike any other night of theatre! What makes a Special Performance so “special”? Each year, Broadway companies, in New York and on the road, generously give their time and talent by adding a performance to already rigorous schedules to benefit The Actors Fund.
