Arts Partner: Kaufman Music Center
Hailed as “the alt-classical world’s main showcase” (The New York Times) and “a kind of heaven for show-goers in search of the ever-elusive, one-of-a-kind live music experience” (The Village Voice), Kaufman Music Center’s Ecstatic Music Festival returns for its sixth year, bringing together composers and performers from different musical genres or scenes for collaborations leading to performances that are adventurous and utterly unique.
Experience MATA’s Radical Pairings when raucous energy meets refined elegance! This concert pairs two newly formed ensembles — Exceptet, a Brooklyn-based septet whose unique instrumentation derives from Stravinsky’s classic “L’Histoire du Soldat,” with Ensemble Échappé, founded by Rome Prize winner Nina C. Young and Jocelin Pan, under the direction of Jeffrey Milarsky — with Goldfeather, a neo-old-timey band in an evening of music that roams freely across aesthetics, styles and neighborhoods.
