Arts Partner: Pregones Theater + Puerto Rican Traveling Theater

“Gritty and lyrical, edgy and memorable!” –The Washington Post
“It reminded the audience that theater can not only be fun, entertaining, and a great night out, it can also be thought-provoking, and rebellious!” – DC Metro
Created in collaboration with poet Magdalena Gómez, Dancing tells stories of resistance and resilience from brazen feminist and working-class perspectives — brimming with heart and laugh out loud humor! Paying tribute to great Puerto Rican cultural icons from Joe Cuba to Lolita Lebrón to Iris Chacón, Dancing is an explosive mix of words, music, and visuals sure to get you on your feet.
Show highlights include the hilarious “Madre de Bomba” (“If I had an abuela / she would have fangs!”), the heart-stopping “Fuego en la cocina” (“Me juró por Dios y los ojos de su madre que jamás me levantaría la mano.”), and a rousing post-hurricane ode to “María” (“As greed replicates / so does resistance.”).
This production is performed in English and Spanish with dual language supertitles.
Running Time: 80 minutes with one intermission.
