Ready for murder, intrigue and romance? Well that’s what happened at this month’s Pizza and a Movie Night (disclaimer: No one was actually harmed during the screening of the movie).

This month’s PAAM was special since ArtsConnection’s Film TRaC group hosted it and the theme was Film TRaC’s: All Noir Everything Edition. For those not familiar with noir films well, they’re those old black and white movies that your grandparent or parents used to watch. Think Casablanca, and if that still doesn’t ringing any bells then… Sin City?)

Anyway, this month picks were The Postman Always Rings Twice (1946), Dial M for Murder (1954), and The Big Sleep (1946).  Since Film TRaC were hosting this time around, they presented their movie choices in their own way. Each tried Hard to win the audience over but in the end Dial M for Murder won.

Dial M for Murder is a Hitchcock film, which means it has to be good, right? And good it was. The film’s plot was simple: what if you tried to plan the perfect crime? What could go wrong? Could it go wrong? Well, I’ll leave you to think on that. (Insert shifty eye look) Ok I won’t tease, here is a little bit of the plot here.

When the lights came back on the audience cheered and  roared. Honestly, I was actually surprised. Lets face it: old movies are good, but can be a hit or miss when it comes to a younger audience. This movie got the same response as if it were a movie released today. “Ooos”, “Oh No’s” and all that.
