Arts Partner: Cecilia Chorus of New York
The Cecilia Chorus of New York Presents…
A perfect way to celebrate the season! The brightly cheerful, cozily nostalgic musical colors of English composer and folklorist Ralph Vaughan Williams – and the crisply impertinent, brooding inflections of Parisian urbanite Francis Poulenc.
Mark Shapiro conducts The Cecilia Chorus of New York, now in its second century. The 150-voice chorus, full orchestra, and vocal soloists perform two cantatas for the holiday season, featuring Hodie, a Christmas cantata by Vaughan Williams. This concert showcases three vocal soloists including Liv Redpath, of Harvard University and Wolf Trap Opera, and Takaoki Onishi, Chicago Lyric Opera Young Artist 2015-16. It is also the Carnegie Hall debut of New York City’s Every Voice Concert Choir, directed by Nicole Becker.
