Exodus  – WORLD PREMIERE
Choreography by Rennie Harris

“Hip-hop is about the celebration of life,” says Rennie Harris, whose last work for the Ailey company, Home in 2011, was hailed byDance Magazine as “absolutely exhilarating.”  His highly-anticipated new piece – about the journey to enlightenment –  incorporates spoken word, gospel and house music.

Suspended Women – COMPANY PREMIERE
Choreography by Jacqulyn Buglisi
This mesmerizing ensemble work by celebrated former Martha Graham dancer Jacqulyn Buglisi illuminates the challenges and strength of women across the ages.

Takademe
Choreography by Robert Battle

One of Robert Battle’s first creations, this bravura work mixes humor and high-flying movement in a savvy deconstruction of Indian Kathak dance rhythms, set to Sheila Chandra’s syncopated vocal score.

Revelations
Choreography by Alvin Ailey

Using African-American spirituals, song-sermons, gospel songs and holy blues, Alvin Ailey’s masterpiece fervently explores the places of deepest grief and holiest joy in the soul.  More than just a popular dance work, it has become a cultural treasure, with audiences cheering, singing along and dancing in their seats from the opening notes of the plaintive “I Been ’Buked” to the rousing “Wade in the Water” and the triumphant finale, “Rocka My Soul in the Bosom of Abraham.” The New York Times declared it “one of the great works of the human spirit.”
