A Spanish Pange Lingua: Sacred Music of Victoria

The Choir of Corpus Christi Church singles out Tomás Luis de
Victoria, the great master of Renaissance polyphony. Although he spent most of his life in Rome where he wrote the program’s hymns and motets, he happily returned to his native Spain to serve the Empress Maria. Upon her death he honored her with the moving Officium defunctorum.
