Arts Partner: Symphony Space
Led by Rakesh Satyal (No One Can Pronounce My Name), comedian and writer Chris Gethard (Lose Well) and mystery maven Lyndsay Faye (The Paragon Hotel) read from their latest works. First you’ll hear the author’s story as written, then comedians Leah Bonnema (Wake Up and Yell at Me) and Nik Dodani (Murphy Brown), have five minutes to take the book’s themes and run with them. The catch? Our two brave comics haven’t quite done their reading.
Have you ever pretended to read the new book everyone’s talking about? Not quite caught up with the New York Times Book Review? Seems like you’re drowning in “Best Of” lists? We all know the feeling, but our exciting new series LitProv takes the pressure off of you and puts it on stage! LitProv brings together new voices in literature, and some of our household-name favorites, to read from their latest works. Then we let loose a couple of comedians to riff off the reading without having read the book. Hosted by Rakesh Satyal (No One Can Pronounce My Name), this lovefest of literature and comedy is sure to bring on the laughs and add to your growing TBR pile.
Each event in the series includes a conversation with the authors, a Q&A with the audience, and a book signing on stage following the show.
