Arts Partner: New York City Ballet

$10 Tickets are now available to see New York City Ballet at Lincoln Center. But hurry – they’ll be gone before you know it!
Three works, each stylized and rousing, exhibit Balanchine’s masterful yet subtle penchant for channeling cultural sensibilities, including a distillation of square dancing into fascinating patterns and effervescent spirit, a cavernous ballroom where a young woman both horrified and fascinated by her own vanity is seduced by the figure of Death, and a grand procession of classical dance.
Square Dance
Music by: Antonio Vivaldi and Arcangelo Corelli
Choreography by: George Balanchine
Known for his love of all things American, Balanchine expertly reconceives square dancing to fit his neoclassical minimalism, retaining its fascinating patterns and effervescent spirit.
La Valse
Music by: Maurice Ravel
Choreography by: George Balanchine
Captivated by the moody and mysterious world of Ravel’s La Valse, a young woman waltzes through Balanchine’s surging choreography with tragic results.
Cortège Hongrois
Music by: Alexander Glazounov
Choreography by: George Balanchine
Mirroring Glazounov’s melding of nationalistic and classical idioms, Cortège Hongrois develops from a folk-stylized processional to a classical grand pas de deux.
