Antigone is sick, Tiresias has news from the future, but Oedipus just wants crack open a beer and watch the game. A Greek tragedy collides with the most important soccer match of the season on January 29th, when Sans Comedia brings artistic director Julian Mesri’s Oedipus Gol to Dixon Place.The company, currently developing the work, will present the first half of the tragedy set to the raucous fanaticism of a streaming soccer game, making for a unique night of theatre in which actors and audience members alike experience the joys (and sorrows) of spectatorship.
