Carule-EventDirectly from CUBA – Teatro de las Estaciones!

The life of Cuban musical icon Bola de Nieve told by the internationally acclaimed Cuban Puppet theater company. In Spanish, yet equally enjoyable by non-Spanish speakers!

Born Ignacio Jacinto Villa Fernández, Bola de Nieve was a Cuban singer-pianist and songwriter, whose round face earned him the nickname by which he was always known. A truly memorable talent, he was also black and gay, self-confident in his personality, and celebrated for his music and strong social justice convictions.

He worked as a chauffeur and played piano for silent films until his friend Rita Montaner took him on as an accompanist in the early 1930s. After Montaner returned to Cuba, he remained in Mexico and developed his original performance style.

A sophisticated cabaret stylist he was known for his ironic patter, subtle musical interpretation, and a repertoire that included songs in French, English, Catalan, Portuguese and Italian. He toured widely in Europe and the Americas.
