Invitation to Submit- Visual and Performance Art
Submission Deadline: July 29, 2016 @ 11:59 PM
Queer NYC Teen Artists are invited to submit Visual and performance art in response to the exhibition theme Queer Sentiments: What did we ever do to you?
This theme is very broad so to allow the Artists freedom to express themselves in response to any act of injustice towards the LGBTQ+ community. This does not have to be a response to well known incidents; it could also be a piece stemming from personal experiences or issues. Artists are encouraged to explore incidents and themes such as, the Orlando Massacre, gun control, transgender bathroom issues and unlawful murders, homophobia, transphobia, intersectionality with regard to queer issues etc.
You are also invited to submit proposals for conducting activities at the exhibition opening.
Approximately 40 pieces will be chosen to be a part of the exhibition. We (curators) will try to select one piece from every artist in an effort to include everyone’s voice. However, depending on the amount of submissions received, we might have to be more selective. The curatorial team in charge of selecting artwork is made up of LGBTQ+ NYC teens.
