Rendezvous with Marlene is based on a three-hour phone exchange between the legendary Marlene Dietrich and international stage star Ute Lemper in 1988 in Paris. After receiving the Moliére Award for her performance in Cabaret in Paris, Ute sent a postcard to Marlene, essentially apologizing for all the media attention comparing her to Marlene Dietrich. Lemper was just at the beginning of her career in theatre and music, whereas Dietrich was looking back on a long, fulfilled life of movies, music, incredible collaborations, love stories, and stardom.

In this one-woman presentation written by Ms. Lemper, she shares Marlene’s story by singing fabulous songs from all the chapters of her life, from the Berlin cabaret years to her fabulous Burt Bacharach collaborations. Songs include “Where Have All the Flowers Gone,” “I’ve Grown Accustomed to Her Face,” “Blowin’ in the Wind,” and “Just a Gigolo.”
