the-gamblerby Glyn Maxwell

Based on the Story By Fyodor Dostoyevsky

Fyodor Dostoevsky in 1866, in serious debt, addicted to roulette and rejected by several women, spun these sad materials into ‘The Gambler’, a brilliant tragicomic novella written in a feverish few weeks to stave off ruin. Olivier-nominated playwright Glyn Maxwell recreates the madness and mayhem of a world enthralled by chance, sex and money, a world without values or foundations, spinning out of control.

World Premiere directed by Karen Lordi-Kirkham with John Cosentino, John Lenartz, Poppy Liu, Joseph Menino, Morgan Rosse, Matt Stapleton and Elise Stone.  Set Design by Jennifer Stimple-Kamei and Tsubasa Kamei,  Costumes by Jennifer Stimple-Kamei,  Sound Design by Ellen Mandel; Stage Management by Haejin Han.
