This is a PSA to all the bored teens out there who want to see a free, groovy, and fun event! Well, happening every Thursday until August 6 is BAM’s R&B Festival that brings shows to the Metrotech Commons in Downtown Brooklyn. The concerts will make you dance or feel happy. The crowd gave off positive, lively energy. George Clinton and Parliament-Funkadelic especially added to the upbeat mood, and older fans cheered loudly all around.

Anthony ParliamentBackstage, I had the pleasure of meeting some of the performers at the concert. Despite a positive atmosphere of the concert, there are some annoyances I might have to address. The heat was insufferable. It, however, did not speak louder than the amazing, funky performance given by Clinton and Parliament-Funkadelic!

The music performed by the legendary Clinton and Parliament-Funkadelic had fantastic rhythm. The songs performed had clear or funny remarks and messages that made the crowd cheer even more. Around the Commons, there are good food options, so don’t worry about starving at the concert.

The event starts at noon, while lasting about an hour, so I recommend arriving early to get a good spot in front of the stage. Also, if you do manage to get close up, you can bring a chair or sit on the grass. I highly recommend this R&B festival to teens with nothing to do on a hot summer Thursday, especially if they want to get their groove on.

Until the next time! Ciao
