I’m not going to lie; I’m a real life pessimist. I mean the kind that whines about life, saying that I will be alone forever. Sometimes, I’ll say dumb shit like, “Bitch, just throw me out the window” or like, “Fuck me with a gigantic cactus I’m failing!” But really, I’m drowning in schoolwork, I have a test every other day, and my grades are still terrible. My friend Celia is the epitome of optimism. She says, “I’m just honestly a happy person,” along with some other crunchy-granola-organic shit mixed in. Although I mock it, I’m honestly envious. I don’t think I can be that bright and sunny, due to the restrictions of my personality, but there must be something better than my attitude now. Should I just leave? The simple island life calls to me; I can be a local fruit vendor on some remote Micronesian island. NO! If I leave, those problems will just follow. If I have learned one thing in life, you cannot redo what has already been done. My only option is to overcome my troubles. As my friend Chloe says, “Build a bridge, and get over it.”
