The adaptation of the HUNGER GAMES was released in theaters last Friday to the delight and dismay of the die-hard fans. Which side are you on?? Photo Credit: SCREENRANT.com

The Hunger Games based off the worldwide best-selling book series by Suzanne Collins arrived in theaters last Friday.  The movie hit the key points for any die-hard fans of the first book, but sadly and simply put, it was way too rushed.

The movie it starts off in the post-apocalyptic world, Panem. It shows you who Katniss is and her family and what they do every day in their life. Katniss is a hunter that is very good with a bow and arrow and Peeta is a baker that lives with his family is very good with his strength and camouflaging in the environment. In the book they tell you more about who they are, in the film they just get to the point to keep on running with the story. There is one flashback where they show Peeta giving bread to the pigs and finds Katniss in the rain all alone and tosses the whole wheat bread to her in the ground.  This is where they met for the first time in the film, but in the book they knew each other because they go to the same school. This is very inaccurate and confusing because Peeta had a crush on Katniss since school and was in love with her when The Hunger Games started. In the movie while Peeta is being interviewed, he says he is in love with her —- any die-hard fan would know that he is, but for people that don’t know would be very confused of how he is in love with her because the film does not show their history, except for one flashback.

I had a real problem when the action in the arena starts a few kids are murdered very fast and it doesn’t show how they get killed.  In the book they tell you how did they get killed, and it’s very gory.

There are other minor problems.  In the book’s Hunger Games contest, every year the 24 contestants spend 2 weeks surviving and defending themselves.   In the movie it is very rushed and it looks like they spent 4 or 5 days in there, and only focus on Katniss.  It’s not a big deal because in the movie they had to stick to the key points of the story and focus on the main characters, but they could have at least had some of the other 24 contestants besides Peeta and Katniss show their ways of surviving and defending themselves for 2 weeks.

The Hunger Games is a very good movie for any fans of the series, but it’s very rushed.  If only they had used more time for character development and more action this would have been a very awesome movie for everybody, especially the die-hard fans.
