I recently had the opportunity to see War Horse at the Lincoln Center Theater. The performance was enthralling and did a magnificent job of captivating the audience. The idea of the play is simple, yet includes very intricate details that help to draw you in. The main character, Albert, is a young man who is extremely dedicated to helping a horse, an innocent creature that seems to have human-like qualities. Having previously seen the movie War Horse, which conveyed the magnificence, power and beauty of the horse, I could not fathom how this could possibly be translated to the stage.  Instead of being disappointed, I was in awe of the production’s creativity.

I was astonished at how real the production felt, especially with the special effects of gunshots and explosions. I was equally impressed with the creativity of the production team and how they maneuvered the props to set the scenes. The puppeteers were the most impressive part of the production, without a doubt. They worked in a syncopated way in order to manipulate the life-sized horses, which is what made the production really stand out to me. I was thoroughly mesmerized by this production and praise the playwright, Nick Stafford, for writing such a powerful play.
