Here’s what the teen audience had to say…
FINAL RATING: 4 out of 8 slices
Every PaaM night, we ask our teens to give us their honest reviews of the winning movie. We then select voices that capture the range of opinions and critiques. Read what Shamil, Juliette, Jesse and Vivian had to say about the teenage cult classic.
Choose three words to describe the movie.
Shamil: Don’t trust boyfriends
Juliette: Angst, confusing, eh
Jesse: Hilarious, dark, interesting
Vivian: Chaotic, death, interesting
What was your favorite scene? Bonus: Why? **SPOILER ALERT!**
Shamil: When JD was explaining to Veronica why he wants to kill everyone in the school. I like it because he wants the better society but his choice to help wasn’t great.
Juliette: I like the styling for all the scenes. My favorite scene was the very end with Martha and Veronica.
Jesse: My favorite scene was the finale because it is a perfect conclusion to a great film.
Vivian: I didn’t like any scene. Everything felt predictable once the story began. Even when the ending began I still hated it.
Would you recommend this to a friend? Why or why not?
Shamil: I would, it shoes teens how in a way we relate to popularity in school and we all try to find a way to change social norms.
Juliette: Sure, but also you don’t need to watch it. While it does deal with suicide, it glorifies it a lot and dismisses suicide. Feels ingenue and there are a lot of offensive slurs.
Jesse: I would recommend this to anyone because it is ICONIC.
Vivian: I would not because it feels very basic, or it’s trying too hard to get out there. The reasoning for JD trying to kill the school was very bland, and although Veronica did stop it, the ending left you with a sour taste.
