You Are In An Open Field is a cute nerdcore musical from the New York Neo Futurists. If you are a nerd with any knowledge of gaming, this is a truly wonderful play. For those of you who aren’t, or are looking for a traditional musical, this play (while the plot might seem confusing) makes up for its thoroughly nontraditional ways by being funny and entertaining.

The play revolves around three main characters, the players; Marta, Adam, and Kevin R Free, with occasional guest spots by the Troll and the Dungeonmaster (not their listed titles, but their roles nonetheless). Marta wants to breath underwater, Adam wants to firebend, and Kevin wants to fly. Through the three levels of the game, the three characters defeat their fears and finish the game.

Slight warning- there is audience interaction. The players will free-style off a line from Waiting For Godot picked by an audience member. At least one of the audience members will get made fun of during the course of the play (“…Or you could lead passionless lives, like the red-headed girl over there.” Thanks.) Either way, the play will have you laughing, and maybe even thinking. Enjoy.
