Do you have something against me – or should I say we?  Are you intimidated by the vibrant shades of brown that surround you? Your KKK and Donald Trump jokes aren’t going to get rid of us. You being from Eastern Asian descent, having straight black hair and fair skin, does not mean you can exclude yourself from “those minorities.”

As if you aren’t one.

However, you don’t feel the need to exclude yourself when you’re staring down my double chocolate chip cookie in algebra class. Then ask for a piece, as if all of a sudden you’re color blind. As if you never waited until that black girl was 20 feet away from you, so you can whisper “that black bitch” to the next person, who is just like you. You only interact with us when you’re forced to do so. At lunch “I sit with my own kind” you say. And that’s the time you get to say whatever you want. Where?… Who?… Did you learn this from?..  Your parents?

I see… and they say shit like that around you? For how long? So that’s why you view us this way. That’s the reason why so you say the things you say. Now I wish I raised you somehow. I can try and teach you, nurture your mind if you’re willing. But that’s not happening anytime soon. I can tell.
