Oh my! I have recently seen a show that has brought new meaning to the word KINKY. Kinky Boots is a must see play.

One thing I have learned during the show is accepting someone for who they really are and not judging them because of their sexuality. To provide a brief summary of the play, a the story follows a character named Charlie Ever. As a young boy all his dad wanted him to do was to take over the shoe company that has been in their family for decades. Charlie on the other hand has a different plan for himself. He has dreams of marrying his lady and moving to London. Unfortunately, Charlie’s father passed away and he has to inherit the family shoe business against his will.

The greatest challenge came when he realized that his father’s company is bankrupt and he has to save it or all the workers are going to lose their jobs. Charlie teams up with a drag queen who goes by the name of Lola to help save his father’s shoe company. Lola comes up with an idea that instead of creating dressing shoes for men they should branch out and do the unexpected and create shoes for drag queens. Lola and Charlie start on a new journey to create boots for drag queens. While working together they find out that they are so much alike. Both of their fathers have expectations they wished their sons would accomplish one day but Lola’s plans went awry. Ever since Lola was a little kid he had a great love for shoes but his dad never supported him, and eventually his father disowned him. These two men come to the realization that their fathers had expectations of them. Charlie is caught between his personal life and his professional life. He wants to marry his fiancé Nicola but also wants to help the workers in his late father’s company not lose their jobs.

The performances are amazing. The audience feels like they are a part of the action. The lighting and choreography are really entertaining. The show had everyone laughing and having a good time. There wasn’t a moment when the audience wasn’t having a great time. Kinky Boots is a Broadway show all should go see. Trust me you won’t regret it.
