Papo Vázquez Quartet playing Bach’s Goldberg Variations
The concert features arrangements by Papo Vázquez and Rick Germanson
Back by popular demand, Papo Vazquez and his Mighty Pirate Troubadour Jazz Quartet bring us their daring exploration of J.S. Bach’s Goldberg Variations. The concert features Vázquez’s and pianist Rick Germanson’s arrangements for trombone, bass, piano and saxophone.
Originally, the Goldberg Variations, is a work for harpsichord by Johann Sebastian Bach, consisting of an aria and a set of 30 variations. First published in 1741, the work is considered to be one of the most important examples of variation form. The Variations are named after Johann Gottlieb Goldberg, who may have been the first performer.
With his inimitable trademark style, Papo Vazquez injects a rumbling dose of Latin Jazz energy to J.S. Bach’s iconic score! Not to be missed!
