Brought to the stage by renowned artist Eisa Davis was tremendous talent, beauty, and humor during her performance “Flowers Are Sleeping” at the Symphony Space on March 1, 2012. Singing songs from her previous albums while simultaneously playing the piano, Eisa left me speechless and in awe of both her marvelous voice, and the meaning and emotions she put into her songs. Her voice filled the entire room and put us the audience in a trance that I never wanted to end as her golden sparkling dress captivated our eyes.

In between singing, she engaged the audience and made jokes, creating a very comfortable and relaxing atmosphere within the small theatre while allowing her whimsical personality to shine through. She consistently gave her equally talented musicians and vocalists praise for playing and singing beautifully together, who were Jon Spurney, Charles Burnham, Keith Witty, Chris Eddleton, Kyle Beltran, Rebecca Naomi Jones, and Kelly McCreary. Throughout the entire performance I was interested, begging for more. When the performance did come to an end with a number that also happens to be the name of her album Something Else (which featured guest vocalists Shaina Taub and the Taubettes during the performance only) I was completely blown away and couldn’t possibly leave Symphony Space without buying her album.

This performance was incredible. Davis, her musicians, and her vocalists were all exceptional. I will never forget this concert experience.
