I LIVE New York!

There are two types of New Yorkers. People who live in the city, and people who actually LIVE in the city. You may be asking, “What is the difference?” The difference is that there are many individuals who do not take advantage of what this international capital has to offer. They go through their everyday duties and never stop to take in the splendors around them.

I am a person who falls in the latter category. I LIVE in New York. Although, I feel that I am far from a social butterfly, I do try to take in as much (read: FREE) NYC events as I possibly can. For example, this past Saturday, my friends and I ventured out to Union Square to participate in an enormous pillow fight (with the pillows later being donated to the Pillows for Puppies campaign). After growing an enormous appetite from all the slugging, we took a nice walk to China Town and enjoyed dinner at Congee Village Restaurant (an authentic Chinese Restaurant). The day was nothing less than awesome, and proved that New York City can definitely be enjoyed on any budget.

So! Below I have listed upcoming free/inexpensive events in the city along with organizations that are known to host great free/cheap events. Attend one or all, and tell us about it!!

The Brooklyn Museum:  The Museum is known to have no admissions fee for every 1st Saturday of the month. A good way to remember: H5 Pizza and a Movie Night is the 1st Friday of every month; Brooklyn Museum on the 1st Saturday.

LivingFreeNYC.com: An awesome site that let’s you know about free events in the city, including movie screenings

Have siblings/cousins who are 12 and under? Treat them to a free meal at IHop any time during the month of April. Between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. and kids meal is free with the order of one entree.

Haiti Cultural Exchange: Add a lil’ Caribbean zest to your life! HCX is well known for hosting free events with musicians, poets, and other artists. Check out their website at www.haiticulturalx.org

Live it up, NYC teens!
