(The High Line at night.)

It’s a hot summer day in the city. The sun is giving off a massive amount of heat. Ice Cream and ice are a must have. Hipster girls are lying on the grass reading trashy romance novels. The guys are wearing their Ray-Ban shades with their plaid shirts looking oh so glamorous. You may be asking yourself…where am I? I’m at The High Line.

Elevated up above the west side of Manhattan, The High Line is a public park that was built on what was originally a freight rail line. In the 90s the park was going to be torn down but with the help of The Friends of The High Line it is now maintained by a non-profit conservancy. Plus, it’s located in the Meat Packing District which has an abundance of high profile clothing stores by the world’s most famous fashion designers.  Alice + Olivia, Levi’s, and Massimo Bizzocchi are just a few names I see as I walk along the concrete sidewalks. Looks like I’ll be apartment hunting here next year.

Now back to The High Line. The park looks like a boardwalk with grass and art. That’s basically it.  It’s beautiful, really. I give The High Line 3 out of 5 stars for the sole fact of the heat. I’m not joking when I say I wasn’t even sweating, I was melting a little. I suggest you pack lots of ice and water if you ever plan to come during the summer.

The High Line is what I like to call New York City’s “best kept secret.” I’m not aware of how popular and known this beautiful public park is, but, tourists. make sure you include The High Line on your list of the sights to see. Did I mention they’re hosting a party for teens next month?  In August there will be a glow in the dark party. I’m looking forward to seeing all your gorgeous faces. I’ll be there. Catch me if you can.
