leon_the_professionalWe went to the August Pizza and a Movie Night where the theme was Sponsor’s Choice. Every month, the wonderful people at Sony Wonder and Technology Lab open their doors, letting us take over their atrium and theater with pizza and teens. For this special edition, we presented a mystery menu of their choosing with new and must-see Sony releases!

Never been to Pizza and a Movie? Well, this is how it works. Each month there’s one theme and three films. We eat pizza then we vote on the movie…mob rule style! This month we watched Léon: The Professional (directed by Luc Besson).

We asked four teens to give you their reviews on the film. Check out what Nicholas (The Avid Reader), Mercer (The Action Enthusiast) Aryanna (Last Time PaaMer), and Desiree (The Newbie) have to say about Léon: The Professional.

How would you sum up the movie in one sentence?

Nicholas: The movie was a cinematic metaphor that blurs the line between good and evil.
Mercer: An epic tale of a cleaner trying to survive.
Aryanna: A special bond between unusual people that kicks butt.
Desiree: The plant lived longer than the people.

Who would you recommend this movie to?

Nicholas: Fans of Lolita.
Mercer: Friends and family.
Aryanna: My friends and people who are into action movies.
Desiree: AP environmental science teacher.

We asked the teens to do a one-word association with the film. Here are some of the most popular and surprising responses:

Milk, tragic, exciting, bleak, soft, frightening, similar

On a scale of 1 to 10 (1= “Hated it”, 10= “My New Favorite”), how would you rate this movie?

Nicholas: 6
Mercer: 7
Aryanna: 7
Desiree: 6

Final Rating: 6.5 slices out of 8

the slice- 6 and half
