The Slice_Jan 2014_127 Hours

We went to the January Pizza and a Movie Night where the theme was THIS REALLY HAPPENED. We voted on a movie menu of true stories: big or small, recent or historical, feature film and documentary. Never been to Pizza and a Movie? Well, this is how it works. Each month there’s one theme and three films. We eat pizza then we vote on the movie…mob rule style! This month we watched 127 Hours (directed by Danny Boyle).

We asked four teens to give you their reviews of the film. Check out what Max (The Veteran PaaMer), Parbattie (The Newcomer), Shanalda (The TAC Leader), and Brendon (The Returning PaaMer) have to say about 127 Hours.

How would you sum up the movie in one sentence?

Max: A man in desperate need of a hand gives himself one by removing his (own).

Parbattie: A young man gets his arm stuck under a boulder where he spends the next 127 hours looking back on his life, losing his mind, finding it, and then cutting off his arm to get another chance and free himself physically and emotionally.

Shanalda127 Hours conveyed a very powerful message. I will add it to my “movie night” list.

Brendon: Being independent is not good all the time. It’s better to have people you can count on.

Who would you recommend this movie to?

Max: Kids who enjoyed Scooby Doo

Parbattie: EVERYONE

Shanalda: Everyone who isn’t faint at heart.

Brendon: I would recommend this to my friends.

On a scale of 1 to 10 (1= “Hated it”, 10= “My New Favorite”), how would you rate this movie?

Max: 8

Parbattie: 10

Shanalda: 8, it was a great movie, very thought provoking.

Brendon: 10
