Here’s what the teen audience had to say…
FINAL RATING: 6 out of 8 slices
Every PaaM night, we ask our teens to give us their honest reviews of the winning movie. We then select voices that capture the range of opinions and critiques. Read what Cyrus, Srewashi, Aishe, and Sophia had to say about this divisive skater film.
Choose three words to describe the movie.
Cyrus: Desolate, nostalgic, heartbreaking
Srewashi: Disturbing, unsatisfying, strong
Aishe: Dope, what, damn
Sophia: Shocking, heartwarming, intense
What was your favorite scene? Bonus: Why? **SPOILER ALERT!**
Cyrus: When Ray and Stevie have a heart to heat conversation about life and the hopelessness of youth.
Srewashi: When the brother of Stevie got emotional and showed care for Steve.
Aishe: When Sunburn (Stevie) got his nickname because he finally got into the group and got so excited.
Sophia: When Ray and Sunburn were skating and talking about the other characters’ home scenarios. I felt very warmhearted after watching it and it solidified most of the characters’ roles.
Would you recommend this to a friend? Why or why not?
Cyrus: Yes, because it shows the beauty and darkness of youth culture.
Srewashi: I would not. The ending was unsatisfying. It was disturbing too.
Aishe: Yes, because it is a nice movie about fitting in even though the ending was kinda wack–but it was wholesome. 🙂
Sophia: Yes, it was very climactic in certain scenes, the characters were all memorable, and you couldn’t take your eyes off the movie.
