Say “hello” to Pam the Pizza!

We made some big changes in November!

–> Our Pizza and a Movie mascot got an amazing makeover courtesy of Hana, Senior Teen Advisory Council member.

–> We moved to the 53rd Street New York Public Library.

This month we drew inspiration from our new home and hosted the PULLED FROM THE PAGES edition. We presented a menu of non traditional book adaptations: Baz Luhrmann’s vivid twist on Shakespeare’s classic Romeo and Juliet, Michael Cera as the namesake of the popular graphic novel Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and the fast paced, star studded drama/comedy The Big Short taken from the pages of the bestseller about the 2008 financial collapse.

Stars: Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Kieran Culkin

As bass guitarist for a garage-rock band, Scott Pilgrim has never had trouble getting a girlfriend; usually, the problem is getting rid of them. But when Ramona Flowers skates into his heart, he finds she has the most troublesome baggage of all: an army of ex-boyfriends who will stop at nothing to eliminate him from her list of suitors.

FINAL RATING: 6 out of 8 slices

We asked four teens to give you their reviews on this action comedy. Read what Dong, Iyesha (The Newbie), Phillip (Returning PaaM Critic) and One Shy PaaMer had to say…

How would you sum up the movie in one sentence?

Dong: A conceited grown man struggling through his love life.

Iyesha: A guy goes up against 7 evil exes to win the heart of his crush.

Anonymous: It was a ridiculous medley of pop culture tropes.

Phillip: …the importance of self-respect and fighting for what’s important to you.

Who would you recommend this movie to?

Dong: A classic retro videogame fanatic who would get all the references.

Iyesha: Anyone who loves comedy.

Anonymous: My friends who like comics and are kind of “nerdy”.

Phillip: People who enjoy video games.
